Algebra: Đại số

/ˈaljəbrə/

Tiếng Việt: Đại số

English: Algebra uses letters (like x or y) or other symbols in place of values, and plays with them using special rules.

Ví dụ:    x + 4 = 9
<=> x + 4 – 4 = 9 – 4
<=> x = 5

Example:  x + 4 = 9 , “x” is unknown (often called the “variable”).
                 In this case the value of “x” can be found by subtracting 4 from both sides of the equal sign like this:
                 Start with: x + 4 = 9
                 Subtract 4 from both sides: x + 4 − 4 = 9 − 4
                 Calculate: x + 0 = 5
                 Answer: x = 5
